The Christmas season begins at the Victorian Inn on the Saturday following Thanksgiving with a giant gingerbread house, luminaries and lawn decorations and for 2009, 17 themed Christmas trees including the Pink Breast Cancer Tree and the food drive collection Can-Can Tree. Businesses and groups hold their holiday parties at the Inn and with the decor already in place, DBI is the perfect spot for a Christmas Wedding. Winter is nice in the Blue Ridge Mountains with beauty abounding in ice frozen streams and waterfalls, occasional snows and trees silhouetting on mountain backdrops, all with well cared for roads providing easy, safe access.

Fall is the busiest season at the bed and breakfast with leaf peepers checking out the fall foliage and attending the many fall mountain festivals and activities. From late September to early November, most years visitors can see some degree of fall color varying from the top of Mt Rogers to the lower elevations of Galax. Independence's Mountain Foliage Festival features the annual Potty Princess Contest, a hillbilly spoof on a beauty contest and the Official State of Virginia Grand Privy Races where outhouses on wheels are raced down Main Street in a series of double elimination heats.  On Sunday of the same weekend is the Whitetop Molasses Festival.
The Journey's End Restaurant is busiest in the Summer months when diners can enjoy dinner or brunch on the wraparound porch or the garden patio. Summer is a beautiful time for a visit to the B&B to escape the heat because our mountain temperatures are generally cooler and less humid making outdoor activities such as hiking in Grayson Highlands State Park and biking on the Virginia Creeper Trail more comfortable. The New River is wonderful in the summer and there are a number of outfitters offering tubing, kayaking and canoeing. The restaurant features more local foods with homegrown produce from the Independence Farmer's Market and our own kitchen garden.
Spring blooms in the Blue Ridge Mountains draw winter weary visitors to the trails and vistas of Grayson County's Blue Ridge Mountains including the two highest peaks in Virginia, Mt. Rogers and Whitetop Mountain. The staff at the Davis-Bourne Inn can make reservations for you to bike from Whitetop Station to Damascus via the Virginia Creeper Trail or to visit one our local slow foods farms to see new, both animal and plant. Warming spring days are great for sitting on the Victorian wrap around porch with a book in hand and a blanket on your lap and sometimes warm enough for bed and breakfast guests to have breakfast outside.
